Beacons act as fixed location points that enhance the accuracy of clocking in and out. When a mobile device detects a nearby beacon, it confirms that the user is within a specific area, allowing the clock in/out to proceed.

No. Users must still open the app and manually clock in or out. The beacon simply verifies proximity — if the relevant beacon cannot be detected, the app won’t allow the clock action.

GPS can be imprecise, especially indoors or in dense areas. Beacons provide a highly accurate, tamper-resistant way to verify physical location, reducing the chance of false or manipulated clock-ins.

If the app cannot detect a relevant beacon, the user will be unable to clock in or out. This ensures that all time entries are location-verified.

No. Beacons only allow the app to validate whether a user is in proximity to a specific location when clocking in or out. They do not record movement or continuous location data.

Users must enable Bluetooth and grant Bluetooth permissions for the app to detect beacon signals. Location permissions are not required when using beacons, making the setup simpler and more privacy-friendly.

OnTime Mobile with beacons is supported on most modern smartphones. The minimum requirements are Android 6.0 or iOS 13.
